Dave was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts 8th February, 1977.
He moved with his family and two brothers (Joe and Tyler) to Mission Viejo, California when he was five.There he attended Mission Viejo High School. Later on he studied Philosophy at the University of California, where he shared a room with Brad Delson (Guitar/Linkin Park) and he graduated in 1999.
Dave plays the Bass Guitar, Guitar, Cello and Violin, but he always wanted to play the Drums
Although Dave was originally a guitar player, he changed to Bass because his first High School Band 'Tasty Snax' needed one.
Dave used to play with Brad and his Band, Xero (which would become Linkin Park) but due to a promise he made to his bandmates of Tasty Snax: leaving the band once the tour is over, he only recorded the bass for the EP released in 1997. While Tasty Snax was touring, Xero became Hybrid Theory, and later signed with Warner their first record deal under the name of: Linkin Park. Brad took the full bass guitarist creditentials on Hybrid Theory and once the Snax tour was over, Dave rejoined Linkin Park and has been a member ever since.

He has been married to Linsey Farrell since 28th December, 2002 and they have two girls Regan (born in 2007 and Brooklyn (born in 2009)
